REFLECTED SELVES
The five intimate portraits represent women reflected in a mirror.
This series is suggestive of a re-imagined version of the ancient story of Narcissus. Notions relating to perceptions of one’s self are embodied through Greek and Roman mythological narratives.
The portraits are humorous but simultaneously reveal the potential psychological dilemmas relating to one’s own perception of themselves.
Metaphorically, the portraits of the twins and one other, are presented in a romanticised manner. The euro-centric, mythological landscape depicted by artists for centuries and used to represent Narcissus is replaced with portraits of contemporary women, in amongst a typical Australian landscape -light infused, complete with discoloured foliage caused by an unrelenting sun. We see the perplexing and curious double- our twin.

Exploring different characters through the female body and how schizophrenia makes you have multiple characters and how some forms of dementia they can make you go back to the past thinking about the past and not the future. I wanted to add the aesthetic to make it contemporary

Absence and Presence
The series of photographs titled Absence and Presence are abstract self-portraits explored through various natural scapes. The images are created using a range of slow shutter speeds. The work examines how abstract representations of portraiture are used to communicate the ephemeral nature of and power of presence and absence and the mysterious interplay between the two.
